No more skating or hockey on frozen pond at Ottawa-area golf course
Course owner says moving water beneath ice poses severe danger
January 6, 2021 By CBC News
A frozen stormwater pond at Ottawa-area Stonebridge Golf Club is now off limits for skating and pickup hockey games. Mattamy Homes, owner of the course, has erected no trespassing signs, citing moving water beneath the surface of the ice poses a significant risk to those who wish to skate. The news comes as a disappointment to many who say the chance to skate and play hockey is one of the few options they have for recreation amid the current COVID-19 lockdown.
